Coordinating your International Removal
After your pre-move survey we will automatically assign two of our friendly move coordinators who will control all aspects of your removal to Canada from start to finish. Your Move coordinators will be on hand to guide you through the process using their extensive knowledge and experience in international removals to Canada.
Packing and the Removal
The export packing and loading of your possessions is probably the most important part of the whole International removal process, it is important that the removal company you choose will protect your fragile household items using the correct export grade of industry approved packing materials. It is also important that they have highly skilled and fully trained export packers. If you select our sole use container service we will deliver the container to your door, pack and load your container at your residence in your presence, seal the container and it will be shipped directly from your door to Canada. If you have selected our 'share a container' service, we will pack and measure your consignment at your residence and return this to our warehouse for loading in the next groupage container to your Canadian destination. With PSS share a container service you will only be charged for the amount of space your goods use in the container.
Shipping to Canada
Once your shipping container has been loaded it is secured using a customs type seal and transported to the UK port ready for loading onto the vessel and shipment to Canada. When shipping to Canada the approximate shipping times will vary depending on the area of Canada you are moving to and whether you have a sole use or shared container. The estimated time of arrival for full containers is 2-5 weeks and 5-8 weeks for share a container service up to arrival main ports in Canada. Delivery times for onward transportation to inland destinations may add to the above transit times.
When you arrive in Canada
We will contact you before your container arrives at the port in Canada; this is to ascertain your requirements regarding delivery, if you are not ready to take delivery we can arrange storage for an extremely preferential rate. When you arrive in Canada for the first time after you have received your visa, you will be required to declare a list of goods to follow. You must produce two lists detailing those items that you will be importing with their approximate second hand values, as well as your immigration papers (passport, visa etc). This will need to be produced upon your first point of entry into Canada.
When your shipment arrives in Canada we will arrange for your personal effects or household effects to be customs cleared. In order to clear your goods through customs you will be required to attend your local customer office for shared container service or rail terminal for Full container loads. There is an exception in Toronto where a fast track customs clearance program known as "speed" operates. This program avoids having to visit the customs house in person, however you must be present in Canada. You will be required to produce two copies of your goods to follow list as well as immigration papers. All containers are subject to an inspection by CFIA (Canadian food inspection service) All outside items are liable for inspection and it is important that these are thoroughly cleaned prior to shipment.
