Keeping In Touch

Moving to a new country means having to make a mountain of new decisions, from big stuff like where to live to smaller stuff like how to set up a bank account. So what should you do when it comes time to choose your phone line, calling, internet and mobile provider? TelstraClear can help with that. TelstraClear is one of New Zealand’s leading telecommunications providers. They offer a full range of services including phone lines, calling, internet and mobile.

First things first, how do I get a phone line?

TelstraClear have two options for your phone line. You can get a simple no frills service or a phone line that generates discounts according to the number of calls you make; the more you talk, the bigger that discount gets. Getting set up is easy. Call TelstraClear’s sales team on 0508 543 544 and they’ll walk you through the process. Or you can check out TelstraClear’s services and join online at www.telstraclear.co.nz.

I really need to keep in contact on the move, what about mobiles?

TelstraClear have just released their best ever mobile offer. The offer includes a free Nokia 6275i handset, 500 texts to any network, an ultra low rate of only 29c per minute for national calling, and you get all this for only $20 per month. In addition, you can call a mobile or landline in the ‘Big 5’ - UK, USA, Australia, Ireland and Canada – for just 40c per minute. TelstraClear believe in looking after their own customers first. So to get this fantastic offer, all you need to do is choose TelstraClear for your home phone, calling and broadband for 24 months.

That sounds easy, how about broadband?

Depending on where you live TelstraClear can offer you New Zealand’s fastest home broadband, with InHome Cable Broadband, or their PDQ Broadband, where you choose your speed and usage. And if broadband’s not your thing, TelstraClear have a range of dial up packages ranging from bundled hours to unlimited access. No matter which option you choose, you’ll get FREE spam and virus protection and FREE WebMail.

What’s more, TelstraClear was voted Best Nationwide ISP at NetGuide’s 2008 People’s Choice Web Awards. NetGuide called for public voting for Best ISP in New Zealand based on reliability, price, access, support and extras.

I’m not too good with the computer; can someone set it up for me?

If you’re not confident about setting up your computer, then as a TelstraClear customer you can take advantage of exclusive discount rates with Geeks on Wheels. Geeks on Wheels can install and configure your modem and router, set up email software, install internet security software, set up instant messaging and webcam software and even set up internet connectivity for your home entertainment devices like PlayStation® and Xbox.

How does calling from home work?

When you call from a residential landline in New Zealand, it’s free to call landlines in your local calling area, it’s free to call toll free numbers that begin with 0508 or 0800 and it’s free to receive calls. You pay for any outgoing calls to numbers outside of your free calling area, to mobiles, to international destinations and to chargeable numbers such as 0900.

Local calling areas are traditionally quite small, and people are often put in the position of having to pay for a toll call to call someone down the road. TelstraClear has expanded the size of local calling areas across New Zealand with Big Back Yard. In fact, the average Big Back Yard customer saved $215* a year!

I need to call back home, what’s the best option for international calling?

TelstraClear have a range of international calling options. For example, the International Yak Pak gives you up to 100 hours of calling time to 28 countries (including the UK, Ireland, Australia, USA & Canada) all for only $24.95 a month.

If you like to pay as you go, why not use one of TelstraClear’s prepaid phone cards. Unlike with some other operators, when you use a TelstraClear phone card you can rest assured that your phone calls will get through, and you won’t have to deal with annoying static. And if you ever have a problem call their friendly 24-hour customer service team, who will be able to help you out. Another great reason to use TelstraClear’s prepaid phone cards is that they can provide calling records for immigration applications.

Check out TelstraClear’s full range of calling plans including capped calling and competitive per minute rate plans here.

*The $215 savings was calculated using the number of minutes BBY customers (who have been with TelstraClear for a year) have used to call otherwise chargeable numbers within their phone book calling area, multiplied by the national calling rate on TelstraClear’s most popular calling plan.
